What do I believe in, and why appoint a freelance consultant like me?
"In 2024 I stepped away from a leadership role in transport consultancy in order to allow me to focus on projects that really matter to me in terms of decarbonising transport, and developing transport systems from a user needs perspective. It was also a conscious effort to improve my work-life balance.
As a Visiting Professor at The University of West of England a freelance role allows me more time to work on transport research projects, and to further my understanding of how we can further improve the effectiveness of sustainable transport programmes - knowledge I then apply to my consultancy work.
I am also highly experienced in sustainable business practices, and in particular how to engage staff in creating an inclusive and collaborative vision (purpose) for a company, that everyone believes in. The benefits of this are enormous, from staff attraction and retention through to long term sustainable growth and profitability, whilst working on projects that staff really care about. We achieved that successfully over 25 years at ITP, and won numerous industry awards for our progressive approach, and so as a freelance consultant I am continuing to support other businesses on all aspects of their business planning and operations, to ensure more companies can follow a truly sustainable (economic, social and environmental) pathway".
